From Progress Florida:
It was this week in 2000 when we watched the results of extreme rightwing tactics to intimidate voters and steal a presidential election. This year, we saw a group of Republican legislators attempt to change Florida election law to make it harder to vote.
How far will Florida’s rightwing go to rig the election on November 2, 2010?
No more voter suppression, no more dirty tricks. That’s why we’re partnering with The Secretary of State Project to add our names to the Count Every Vote in 2010 pledge.
With arguably the most important election in Florida history fast approaching, it’s critical that every vote count. The health of our democracy depends on it, and our Constitution demands it. The 2000 election debacle made Florida infamous for disenfranchising voters – we can’t let history repeat itself in 2010.
That’s why I’m adding my name to the Count Every Vote in 2010 pledge. Will you?
We’re working with The Secretary of State Project to build a coalition of community leaders, organizations, bloggers, and individual voters — like you — who will be ready to protect the election in 2010 by:
enacting laws that will protect voter’s rights
watchdogging local supervisors of election
defeating efforts in the state legislature that make it harder for working families to vote
ensuring that our Secretary of State is protecting the election process, not promoting a partisan agendaWe still remember all too well those 36 days in 2000, and we’re not going to let it happen again.

We’re building a strong coalition who will start TODAY to ensure that the rightwing in Florida won’t have a chance to steal the election in 2010.
Thanks for everything you do to protect the vote.
