5 Stories to Read

Round-ups

This is our regular feature where every day I do a post with the top 5 Florida political blog posts about Florida-related stories. They are ranked according to quality, importance of the story and relevance to Florida and the present.

1. Tyler Winik – Take Back the Night: “Numbers are staggering. Particularly those that have real, factual, hardcore evidence to support them. That’s why when service providers, community workers, and medical staff tell you that there’s a good chance either you or someone in your immediate circle of friends has been a victim of sexual or physical abuse, they’re not telling you a story.”

2. Saint Petersblog 2.0 – Winners & Losers from yesterday’s election: “Forget about Bill Foster winning and Kathleen Ford losing, there were plenty of other Winners and Losers who emerged from the St. Petersburg Mayoral Election. Here’s a running list of who really won and who really, really lost.”

3. Dan Gelber – Fighting Public Corruption: “There will always be those that find a way to skirt the law or engage in sleezy behavior, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t adopt measures intended to bring greater accountability and oversight to the operations of government. Today I introduced a handful of measures that if adopted would go a long way toward that goal.”

4. The Spencerian – Election Night in America and the Search for Meaning: “In fact, what if the results from Election Night come back — gasp! — mixed!”

5. Saint Petersblog 2.0 – 10 things I think I think about one week left of the Worst Election Ever: “This race has come down to a choice between a candidate who thinks man and dinosaur roamed the Earth at the same time, despite all the scientific evidence indicating otherwise, and another candidate who thinks it’s appropriate to describe an African American leader as a Negro.”
