Dear Trolls, Teabaggers, 10thers, Birthers and Other Assorted Whack-a-loons,
You need to realize a few things going forward:
1. Almost every talking point you get from Fox, Rush, Hannity, Beck, congressional Republicans, etc., is at best misleading. Most of them are just plain outright false.
2. Facts exist to prove them wrong.
3. These facts are available online.
4. We know how to find them.
5. You should look up the claims you make before you make them, thus avoiding embarrassment.
6. We won’t fall for these talking points, because we already know they aren’t true.
7. The public isn’t falling for them either, that’s why Democrats control the White House and the majorities of Congress, state legislatures, governorships, etc.
8. If people like you continue down this particular path of hate, lies and obstructionism, which we will happily let you, you’ll marginalize yourselves, your party and your ideology for generations to come.
9. If you really care about your country and solving actual problems, you’ll take a step back, examine your beliefs and your methods of learning information and come up with a better way of doing these things.
10. At this point, you don’t have the capability of winning this debate. The facts aren’t on your side. Reality isn’t on your side. Continuing to push this argument can’t benefit you. All it does is waste your time, preventing you from learning what’s really going on here in the real world, as opposed to FoxLand. If you want to continue debating, I’ll gladly continue to smack you down with facts and logic — it helps me practice my research and debate skills, which is always a good thing. But don’t continue under the belief that you are actually going to convince me or anyone else reading this that you are right. You aren’t.
(This was part of an earlier comment thread in another post, but I thought it was useful enough to elevate to post status, with a few edits to make it more generalized).

So why the bitching?
Your party has not only the White House, but also the House of Representatives and a super-majority in the Senate.
Quit bitching and DO SOMETHING!
LOL
1. Don’t confuse party and ideology, there are enough conservative Democrats to stop things.
2. I’m not actually a member of Congress or the White House, so I can’t “do” anything.
3. Watch the news, Democrats are doing things.
And, of course, when conservatives are literally going crazy, that can lead to a lot of bad things happening, so someone needs to call them on that craziness.
What a weak response…I was hoping to get smacked down “…with facts and logic…”.
At the very least, I wanted to see your “…research and debate skills…”
My 9-year-old could have done better.
Fact 1: There are conservative Democrats.
Fact 2: They have enough votes to stop some things from happening.
Fact 3: Democrats are getting things accomplished anyway.
Logic 1: Republicans and conservative Dems together have enough votes to filibuster just about anything, therefore, liberal Dems can’t do whatever they want. This invalidates your main complaint that Dems should just “do something.”
Logic 2: You addressed me personally, suggesting that I am bitching rather than “doing something.” You connected that to majorities in Congress and control of the White House, using incredibly bad logic. My comment pointed that out, logically.
Logic 3: If conservatives are saying and doing a bunch of crazy things, which they demonstrably are, then “bitching” about it is the key thing that I can do, calling attention to such things so that the public and the press realize how bankrupt the ideology is. This strategy is working because recent polls show that Dems are more trusted on every issue than Democrats and the number of people who identify themselves as Republican is at 20%. As far as I can tell, these are new standards that have never been reached in the history of opinion polling for either major party.
Ad hominem attacks (my 9-year-old could do better), don’t help you look smarter, they make you look intellectually bankrupt and question your judgment for bringing a child into the conversation.
Logic 1 invalidates nothing. The fact that they can’t do anything with a super-majority is THEIR OWN FAULT. Saying there’s too many moderates and Republicans is simply an excuse.
Logic 2…open your mind. You referred to righties using a collective term, I’m referring to the left (including you) with a singular term. YOU are bitching about things that are YOUR own party’s fault.
Logic 3? Not even logical, unless the balloon family is Republican. If the right was so ‘crazy’, why are Dems scared they’re about to lose governorships in both VA and NJ?
Regarding an ad hominem attack, you should grow a pair and quit being such a Nancy boy.
This is so easy, it’s like shooting fish in a barrel.
LOL and take care.
And one more thing…why don’t you post a link to the poll that says Dems are more trusted than Democrats (You posted that above !?!).
Also, if you want to cite polls, Gallup says this week that the exact opposite of what you said about libs is true.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/120857/Conservatives-Single-Largest-Ideological-Group.aspx
Is arguing nonsensical falsitudes part of being a lib? Looks like it to me.
Over and out.
Kenneth,
I am guessing you were talking about the WAPO poll when you mentioned the number of people identifying themselves as Republican waas 20%.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/polls/postpoll_101909.html
Here is the question I think you might be referring to:
901.. Generally speaking, do you usually think of yourself as (a Democrat), (a Republican), an independent or what? IF NOT DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN: Do you lean more towards the (Democratic Party) or (Republican Party)?
–Non-Partisans-
Lean Lean No
Democrat Republican Independent Other No op. Dem. Rep. Lean
10/18/09 33 20 42 4 1 20 19 8
So when referring to party, neither repub or dem do too well, maybe the people are running away from the party name and basing themselves on ideology.
Check out the next question in that poll,
908a. Would you say your views on most political matters are liberal, moderate, or conservative? Don’t think in No
Liberal Moderate Conservative those terms (vol.) op.
10/18/09 23 36 38 2 1
Citing poll numbers is good, cherrypicking your stats is bad.
You need to realize a few things going forward:
1. Almost every talking point you get from Fox, Rush, Hannity, Beck, congressional Republicans, etc., is at best misleading. Most of them are just plain outright false.
Would you list out these talking points instead of just making a random blanket statement? let us know what talking points specifically.
2. Facts exist to prove them wrong.
After listing the specific talking points, list your facts that prove them wrong.
3. These facts are available online.
Good, they should be easy to list here then.
4. We know how to find them.
Good, list them.
So, I see the plan now is that the trolls are trying to gang up on me and flood the post with so many comments I won’t be able to respond. Not a problem. I deal with the comments how I see fit. First off, thanks for all the traffic, it helps me drive up ad rates and make more money from the site. Maybe I’ll take the profits I make from you guys and give Alan Grayson a contribution.
I won’t be responding to them all right now. Just don’t have the time or the interest. And before you make the silly assumption that I’m scared or can’t respond, don’t worry. I’ll respond to them all. The way it’ll work is that I’ll start running a series of posts called Right-Wing Troll Watch, where I’ll single out one particular comment from you or other trolls and I’ll respond to it then.
I will say that my line above “because recent polls show that Dems are more trusted on every issue” was based on something I misread and I retract it because it is inaccurate.
What a huge disappointment…what you sold as a chance for a spirited debate ends up with name-calling followed by a surrender.
Dems lost HUGE tonight in states that had voted for YOUR GUY a year earlier.
For crying out loud, they voted in NJ for a (R) Governor–one of the bluest of the blue states.
In parting, here’s some advice: If you throw down the gauntlet and challenge those with dissenting views to a debate, be ready to debate–not give up and cry foul.
It’s been nice…I guess.
Also, if you can garner higher ad rates based on 2 unique visitors and a dozen clicks, you’ve got the best website in the world.
Problem is, that simply isn’t true.
Pathetic.
LOL
Why is it conservatives have a hard time actually reading? Nobody is giving up. Just moving it out of comments and putting it in new posts. If I’m going to spend the time writing things and researching them, it won’t be for comments.
Beyond that, there was no chance for spirited debate here, there was simply a pattern of me saying things that were true and backed up by evidence and trolls responding with inaccurate Fox talking points.
Besides, I never threw down any gauntlet, I said you were wasting your time, which you still are.
By reading your writings so far, I must conclude that you wouldn’t recognize truth if it smacked you in the face … but, then, your a Progressive Liberal!
Fox disseminates “facts” (the truth), and gives opportunity to both sides.
Rush demonstrates the “factual” absurdity of liberals by being absurd.
Hannity rails “factually” on the hypocrisy of liberals, while allowing opposing views.
Beck presents the “facts” (on a daily basis) of the latest outrages coming from this radical administration. After baseless criticism from the White House, and after weeks of having a “red phone” directly to the White House, miraculously the phone has never rung! If you think the phone is fake, neither has the White House disproved any specific presentation from Beck’s program – wonder why?
As for congressional Republicans, too many of which have been moderates (RINOs), I’ll reserve comments for when they get back on track. One thing ‘tho is sure – Republicans would never have tried to transform (unconstitutionally destroy) this country!
We, the american people, took a big step in the right direction by voting our opinions last night, and that’s just a small beginning of what’s to come for these radicals progressives & marxists.
Kenneth, Kenneth, Kenneth … Wise up, put down the Kool-Aid, think for yourself, and stop being such a moron.
It’s funny how conservatives all say the same things and none of them have any basis in reality or facts. One of the funniest ones here is the idea that “the American people took a big step in the right direction by voting our opinions last night.” That’s hilarious on so many levels.
1. The two wins for Republicans were in swing states that have historically voted against the party of the president in years following presidential elections regardless of who is in office. These wins were based on state issues and the weakness of the Democratic candidates. In particular, the Virginia candidate could’ve won if he hadn’t tried to be more and more conservative as the election went on. He lost because he was too conservative.
2. The two elections yesterday that dealt with national issues and/or Obama were both won by Democrats. In New York, the conservatives put everything they had into the race and lost a seat that hadn’t elected a Dem in 140 years. In California, what most thought would be a close race was won by a progressive liberal Dem by 15%.
3. A low turnout election in a few states has nothing to do with the “American people.”
Not only are you delusional, you are even more insane than the rest of the trolls that have been dropping by lately, so chances are I’m not wasting much more time on you.
Thanks for proving my point.
Re New York 23rd, I don’t care whether the 23rd was redistricted, whether Mike McNulty won easily in the 21st or the 23rd, or any other blather. The point is that a late-coming unprofessional but true conservative, without party support, and without much money, got 45%, and that the RINO threw it’s support to the Democrat, and only received 5%!
Wise up, put down the Kool-Aid, think for yourself, and stop being such a moron.
The conservative lost in a conservative district. The “RINO” got 5 percent because she dropped out of the race. Beyond that, I didn’t prove your point at all. Conservatives threw everything they could into yesterday and went 0-2 at the level where your commentary is relevant — the national level.
You aren’t.
Given what has happened in politics since you posted this, and your propensity to simpy GIVE UP debating after YOU issued the challenge, this is one hilarious thread.
You’ve been Pwn3d by mulitple posters in this thread on YOUR OWN website.
Lordy, you libs are one goofy bunch. Loveable, but goofy.
What has happened in politics since I posted this? You mean liberal Democrats sweeping national elections that the entire conservative movement poured their efforts into? That or the House passing health care reform? I’m wondering which of those you consider to be conservative victories?
And you apparently can’t read very well, since, like I said I didn’t give up, I moved responses to posts rather than comments. See the multiple posts since this one labeled “Right Wing Troll Watch,” there are three to date. That’s not giving up.
Just checking to see if you are going to address the post from Riverdogfla at 28 October 2009 at 21:07?
L…M…A…O
Yeah, I’m working my way down the list. Check the regular Right Wing Troll Watch feature.
Ok, I’ll be waiting.
