The Final Word on the FDP Convention, or, the Florida Democratic Convention Awards

Most Helpful Party Officials/Staffers: I didn’t do as much with the party this time around, but still would say Eric Jotkoff is always helpful

Best Moment: Hard to go wrong with Alan Grayson’s speech

Strangest Moment: Pretty sure Conor Hurley was doing the Riverdance at one point

Funniest Moment: Again, probably 2-3 lines from Grayson’s speech tied for this award

Most Interesting Candidates to Talk To: Heather Beaven, Dan Gelber, Dave Aronberg, Kendrick Meek

Best Intellectual Conversation: With the Meek field organizers Saturday night

Most Entertaining Conversation: Any other conversation Saturday night over at the dance club

Best Training Sessions/Panels: Only made it to part of two, but both were excellent — the Legislative Committee meeting led by Franklin Sands and Kelly Skidmore and the blogging panel Brian Franklin led with Steve Schale, Sinfonian and Beth Reinhard

Best Parties: Alison & Rhett’s party, Orange County YDs, Rainbow Democrats and probably all the parties I missed Friday night while working

Best Food: The free food for staffers in the Meek room

Worst Idea: Putting the chair’s reception outside on the hottest, most humid day in human history

Best Self-Promotion: Michael E. Arth and his team worked really, really hard

Most Versatile Florida Blogger: Sinfonian

Most Prolific Florida Blogger: Sinfonian, as always

Hardest Working Florida Blogger: Susan Smith

Most Genial Media People: They were all pretty good in their interactions with me, but others had some real problems…

Best On-Site Blog Coverage: Sinfonian

Coolest Politicians: Grayson, Beaven, Meek, Gelber, Aronberg

Coolest Non-Politicians: Meek field organizers Chris, Conor and Tim, Ralph Mason, Dave Simison, John Edgar, Sinfonian, Dave Cutler, Joy Haslacker, Rhett Bullard’s brother Alan Brock and national blogger Mario Piscatella
