5 Stories to Read

Round-ups

This is our regular feature where every day I do a post with the top 5 blog posts that I think people should read from the previous day. Posts are included here and ranked based on a combination of originality, focus on Florida, length (longer, more thorough analysis is better), quality of writing and impact of the story.

1. Rants of Rob: Thinking the Unthinkable – “We live in a strange time in American public life. Many of the truths we have held as immutable are revealing themselves to be aspects of a special and transient post-war world that is rapidly becoming untenable.”

2. Dan Gelber: Only 473 years left until Floridians get health insurance – “Presently, Florida has 3.8 million of its residents without health insurance, including 800,000 children. Only one state has a higher rate of uninsured.”

3. Why Now?: NO NEW TAXES!!! – “The call of the Republicans in their native environment. This means when they pick your pocket to pay for their programs it won’t be called a tax, it will be called a fee.”

4. Eye on Miami (Gimleteye): The Liars: Scared to death of Florida Hometown Democracy – “For Four! You’ll be hearing a lot of it, between now and the 2010 elections because the ballot referendum to change the Florida Constitution providing direct vote by citizens for changes to local growth plans is a shape shifter. It is called Amendment Four.”

5. South Florida Daily Blog: Getting The Message, Loud And Clear – “So one has to wonder what exactly Rush expects from his incitements and calls to action to stop President Obama.”
