Bob Allen Round-up

Bob Allen mugshot

Not surprisingly, there’s a lot of stuff out there about Bob Allen’s escapades. Here’s the best of that info. Keep in mind, that if Allen were simply gay, that wouldn’t be a problem. The problem is that he is a massive hypocrite.

Talk To Me:

As expected, Florida’s blogs are alive with posts regarding the arrest of Florida state Representative Bob Allen, R-Merritt Island.

Ybor City Stogie:

State Representative, Robert “Bob” Allen, was arrested this afternoon at Veteran’s Memorial Park on East Broad St. in Titusville for Solicitation for Prostitution.

Blast Off!:

Officers say they noticed Allen acting suspicious as he went in and out of the men’s restroom 3 times. Minutes later, he solicited an undercover male officer inside the restroom, offering to perform oral sex for $20. Officers realized he was a public figure after the arrest.

Allen, a Republican, represents District 32 of the State House of Representatives. The district spans parts of Brevard and Orange counties. Allen was first elected to the office in 2000.

Smashed Frog:

Shuttle launch for go and Allen was launched-straight to county jail, where interestingly enough, his occupation is listed as “unemployed”.

Allen-who never met a sex offender bill he didn’t like- called the matter “a very big understanding.” (Aside-explain to me exactly why solicitation for prostitution is NOT considered a sex offense?)

Flablog:

A conservative Republican with libertarian leanings, he had been raising money for a Florida Senate run. (And he earned a 92 percent Christian Coalition score in 2006.)

Broward’s Blog:

Rep. Allen is the author of failed Florida House Bill #1475, the “Lewd and Lecivious Behavior Act” which would have made public masturbation in the presence of another adult illegal, whether the other adult consented or not. Florida statutes already cover such behavior for when a minor is present and the bill died in committee in two months ago. I’m pretty sure Rep. Allen was violating #1475 when he offered to blow that cop, doncha think? Lucky for him it didn’t pass!

In 2005, Allen told right-wing Christian site World Net Daily about his “Sexual Predators Elimination Act” which sought mandatory life without parole sentences for those designated as sexual predators. Allen’s now-ironic statement to WND: “We can get away from all those expensive law-enforcement time-wasting factors by simply going straight to the root of the problem, and that is the offender, and put them in a locked up place where we know we’re safe.” The bill was strongly opposed by the Florida ACLU and did not pass.

Tampa Bay Democrat:

This is the same clueless guy who worked to repeal the bullet train and received contributions from Jack Abramoff.

March on Politics:

As if all that wasn’t enough, some are noting that state Rep. Bob Allen, who made headlines Wednesday being busted on a charge of soliciting a male undercover officer for oral sex, was announced in March as one of the John McCain presidential campaign’s Florida legislative co-chairs.

Grassroots Brevard:

It was rumored that Rep. Bob Allen would run for Bill Posey’s State Senate seat (SD-24). I guess that plan is trashed, huh?

FLA Politics:

“Allen is a former Little League volunteer who also donated time to the Boys and Girls Club, serving on its board of directors. Allen is married and has a teenage daughter.”

The Buzz:

Florida Today has posted a copy of Rep. Bob Allen’s arrest affidavit, in which Allen allegedly entered the undercover officer’s bathroom stall and said,”This is kind of a public place, isn’t it?”

Pensito Review:

The good news is that Allen might not be in all that much trouble. He is only charged with a second degree misdemeanor, which is no biggie in a legislative body. Heck, everyone’s got a few of those.

Allen faces a maximum sentence of 60 days in jail.

tiny little dots:

I wonder if he’s been pre-forgiven for his sins too?

FLA Politics:

Its not looking good for the Republican Party these days.

Just watched the press conference on Channel 9. Bob Allen has entered a not guilty plea to the charges that he solicited sex from an undercover officer in Titusville. Allen says he is innocent and will not resign from the State House seat he holds.

Well of course he’s not guilty, anyone with an approval rating over 90% by the Christian Coalition is morally superior to us mere mortals.

Pretty disgusting character, eh? First of all.. he’s a fucking hypocrite.. as are most of these right-wing lunatics. Secondly, who in their right mind — male or female — would even want to get near this dude… look at his picture for God sakes. HAHAHA. It’s time for the public to wake up to these hypocrites.
