So why should the uninvolved general public join in active demonstrations of opposition to the Republican-dominated Florida government?
Well, while it might have taken a little time to distinguish the pimps from the prostitutes swirling in and around Florida’s 2011 Legislative Session Of Ill Repute, it quickly became clear that it was the general public getting screwed, badly and painfully.
There were good men & women on the scene too, doing their best to fight The Good Fight – a proud but badly outnumbered posse of Democratic legislators who like deputies without enough guns or ammunition, could do little to stem the tide of lawlessness.
And so it is up to us, the general public, to restore some Law & Order.
If you believe our government’s primary responsibility is to protect and promote the general public’s best interests, over and above those of powerful private and partisan political interests, then this would be a good time to stand up for that belief and take a stand against the Republican Party of Florida.
For they have just passed a budget and body of legislation to send to Governor Rick Scott for signage and enactment that stamps them as Enemies Of The People.
The budget and bills they passed deliver injury and insult to almost every sector of society - working & middle class taxpayers; homeowners; the poor, working poor, unemployed and foreclosed-upon; senior citizens & children in need of support services; pregnant women seeking to exercise their reproductive rights; public school students, their parents and teachers; small business owners; state employees; citizens seeking to exercise their voting rights; Medicaid recipients and all other health care consumers…
Pretty much everyone in the Sunshine State will suffer now at the hands of the Republican Party of Florida – everyone except for the corporations and organizations that finance their campaigns and keep contributing big bucks to their political action committees.
From the Florida Chamber of Commerce to health & property insurance companies; from real estate developers & construction companies to big banks & financial firms; from anti-abortion groups to anti-gun control groups…all these and more can share blame for what is happening in Florida.
Fortunately, there are ways to fight back and make the manipulators pay. You can use the Internet to find out who these companies and organizations are, then let them know that their actions come with reactions – like you not giving them a dime of your money.
And you can make the elected officials that do their bidding pay double: first, by letting them know you’re on to and outraged with them, via emails, phone calls, letters to newspapers, appearances at protests; and then most importantly, by voting them out of office in 2012 and restoring some two-party balance to what has become a GOP Wild West Show.
So if you or anyone you know remain uninvolved in this opposition movement, make note. Y’all are hereby deputized…

Already making my list and checking it twice. No more Olive Garden for me. There are plenty of locally owned, small establishments at which I can dine.
