Okay, this clip aired around 5:20 p.m. earlier today. You can check it out at WTXL‘s website for now, although I don’t know how long it’ll be up, so I’ve got it on my server as well.
The interview is about the New Hampshire primary, the ramifications of the results and Florida’s potential impact on the overall race in both parties. I was on representing my job, so it is a neutral discussion and I didn’t get a chance to talk about the Netroots or anything like that, although I put in several plugs with reporters and made a contact that might lead to something down the road.
This clip is a bad sign for the pundits you see on TV. If I can do their job as good or better than they do with no practice and no help as far as preparation or appearance, they’re in trouble.
And before you ask, no, I didn’t know I was going to be on TV or I would’ve dressed better, there was no wardrobe or make-up or anything like that and the in-studio monitor wasn’t working, so I couldn’t see how I looked during the interview.

Do you really think that Edwards winning in S. Carolina will make no material difference? I realize that the polls nationwide don’t bode well for him, but can’t a slip up by either candidate help Edwards in the long run? For example if Obama and Hillary start mudslinging against each other.
Wow! I think that station did more political coverage than I’ve seen any of the Central Florida networks do during all of 2007!
I was sort of hoping you were going to nudge the newspapers a bit about their ridiculous presidential primary garbage, but I guess you had to be “nonpartisan.” I understand.
And you have to find something to do with your hands, they kinda had a mind of their own at the beginning of the show!
Nonetheless, I’m glad to see the “liberal” back in “liberal media”
Good job, Professor! Although I think Huckabee may surprise you here in Florida on the other side.
Great appearance. Kudos!
Your pacing was excellent and your responses were well presented.
One suggestion, though: Park your hands between responses. It’s difficult for an animated speaker to be still, but the animation should be limited to facial expression as you’re waiting to answer.
Stillness in repose is very important for television, as visual distraction is amplified by the medium. It’s probably just a nervous mannerism that was triggered by the cameras… Heck, I’d be overcome by twitching and facial tics in a similar situation, and I wouldn’t be able to finish a sentence for the stammering.
Funny… I’ve sung in a trio before a congregation of a thousand, many times, and never felt self-conscious; yet if I have to leave a message on an answering machine, I suddenly become inarticulate.
Again, it was a great appearance. Once you have your TV persona polished, I could see you as a talking-head on cable news.
Congrats; great job!
Next stop–a Quninell Wiki entry!
Congrats!
(Interesting how emotion played into the polls……………)
Excellent overview of the state on both sides. However, Edwards will do well among union members and union members vote.
Nice job, Kenneth!
Thanks everyone, it has actually taken longer to read and respond to these comments than it took to be on the air.
>Do you really think that Edwards winning in S. Carolina will make no material difference?
It would, but he doesn’t have much chance of winning there. S.C. is Obama’s state.
>but can’t a slip up by either candidate help Edwards in the long run? For example if Obama and Hillary start mudslinging against each other.
If there were only one candidate, a slip-up would help him, but it would take something major from both, and I don’t see either having a major slip-up.
>I was sort of hoping you were going to nudge the newspapers a bit about their ridiculous presidential primary garbage, but I guess you had to be “nonpartisan.†I understand.
Like I said, I was representing the college, whose president is a big-time Republican, so I had to be careful.
>And you have to find something to do with your hands, they kinda had a mind of their own at the beginning of the show!
That’s why I’m a blogger and a radio guy, I have no idea what to do with my hands.
>Good job, Professor! Although I think Huckabee may surprise you here in Florida on the other side.
That’d be nice, the more Huckabee we see, the better it is for Democrats.
>Again, it was a great appearance. Once you have your TV persona polished, I could see you as a talking-head on cable news.
Don’t hold your breath.
>Excellent overview of the state on both sides. However, Edwards will do well among union members and union members vote.
If Nevada’s any measure, though, the unions are backing Obama.
